The Captain
Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
$39.00
PER BOTTLE
‘The Captain’ refers to Captain Matthew Flinders who chartered much of the Australian coastline before stumbling across Kangaroo Island in 1802 and named it after the large number of a particular marsupial he saw hopping about (any guesses!?).
Cabernet Sauvignon thrives on Kangaroo Island thanks to the slow even ripening influenced by the cooling sea breezes coupled with our ancient terra rossa soils, producing wines of great character but also finesse. Exhibiting characters of blackcurrant and mulberry with wonderful depth of fruit, subtle oak and an elegant structure, with careful cellaring this wine will age gracefully over the next 8-10 years.

The Unknown Sailor
Cabernet Merlot 2017
$25.00
PER BOTTLE
On the south coast of Kangaroo Island, between the cliffs and the scrub, a single wooden cross marks the spot. Encrypted with just two words, ‘unknown sailor’, it pays tribute to the brave men and women who dared sail the rough South Aussie seas. Our 2013 ‘Unknown Sailor’ is a Bordeaux blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot.
Using traditional winemaking techniques along with 18 months maturation in French and American oak barrels have created a stylish medium bodied wine. The aroma has elements of red currants and strawberry with a hint of vanilla. These characters flow on to the palate which shows abundant fruit sweetness and soft tannins.
- OUR HOT TIP -
Buy two, one for now and one for the cellar as this wine will only get better with time, ageing gracefully over the next 8-10 years.
